Admissions
As 7th and 8th graders, the decision to choose a high school is one of the most important choices some have ever made — one that will have a profound effect on their future. It is a decision which requires careful thought (and maybe a look at our Top 10 Reasons To Choose St. Genevieve). We at St. Gen’s invite students and parents to visit us and see firsthand what the school is all about. Important Dates:
How do I become a Valiant? Freshman interested in attending St. Genevieve High School must provide the admission office with the following:

For answers to frequently asked questions by students looking to become Valiants, click here. If you would like to receive admissions materials by mail, or have questions either about St. Genevieve in particular or the process of applying in general, please contact: Mr. Juan Jasso Director of Admissions & Records (818) 894-6417 ext. 103 or send an inquiry via email to: jasso@valiantspirit.com Discrimination Policy The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color, disability, sex or national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, (sex), or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs. While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, and makes minor adjustments to accommodate students with disabilities, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.
Tuition and Fees
St. Genevieve’s annual tuition is among the most affordable Catholic and private high schools in the San Fernando Valley. One way to look at tuition is to realize that the public schools in our area and across the country spend much more money per pupil than we do. As a matter of fact, we have worked diligently to make friends and partners with some of the foundations in our area to help in making some of the major plant changes St. Gen’s has enjoyed in recent years. Due to their belief in our mission, our parent community has been spared the additional financial burden of making some of the major improvements, while still having their children in a school building we are all proud of. Like anything else in life, the cost of tuition increases each year. However, your tuition dollars will be one of the wisest investments you can make.

Financial Aid/Assistance
Our goal is to provide a quality Catholic education to as many students as possible. Therefore, we have made a commitment to our Los Angeles community: St. Gen’s will not turn away any qualifying student whose family cannot afford the tuition. There are several different financial aid packages available. For those families who qualify for the Principal’s scholarship, we will arrange a personal appointment to negotiate a tuition that is affordable. “Valiant” and “Spirit” school scholarships as well as tuition awards from the Los Angeles Archdiocese’s Catholic Education Foundation are available to eligible low-income families. All students receiving any type of financial aid are required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and must consistently live the six pillars of character, to remain eligible.
If you’re interested in becoming a Valiant, the following are a few Q&As you need to know. Do I need to pre-register for the placement examination? Yes, our placement exam will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2009 – 8:30 AM. Our testing deadline is Friday, January 30, 2009. Contact our Admissions Office at (818) 894-6417 ext. 103 for further information. Do I have to take the placement exam at St. Gen’s campus? No. But a student who takes the examination at St. Genevieve High School will have priority over students who take the exam at other sites. What if I can’t make it the day of the examination? If you’re sick, or have an unexpected emergency, have a parent or guardian call our admissions office at 818-894-6417 ext. 103. You’ll be given information about how to take a makeup exam. Can I have my scores sent to another school? Sure. We’ll be happy to forward your test scores to another Catholic high school. But when your scores are forwarded, we’ll take your name off our list of possible freshmen so that another applicant can take your place. Is the personal interview important? Yes. The interview is a crucial part of the application process. It gives us a chance to meet you and find out your interests are. Interviews will take place on Saturday, Saturday, February 7, 2009 (please call for an appointment). Appointment times will be given on the date of the exam. If you are taken the exam elsewhere, contact our admissions office at: (818) 894-6417 ext. 103. When are acceptance letters mailed? Letters of acceptance will be mailed on Friday, March 6, 2009. Are students ever admitted conditionally? Some students may be admitted conditionally. All conditions for acceptance (i.e., attending summer school or earning good grades over a period of time) must be met before the student is fully accepted.
