HIGH SCHOOL SWEET-HEARTS SPOTTED ON CAMPUS
On Saturday, January 21, 2006, high school sweet-hearts, Greg Done '65 and wife Betsy (Bothwell) Done, '65 were back on the grounds of St. Genevieve for a stroll down memory lane. The couple now resides in San Clemente, but visit parents who still reside in the area. Greg was a teacher and coach at St. Gen's for about four years beginning in 1969. It was great having them visit, and we now have two more alums added to our alumni database!
ALUMNI ARE THE BEDROCK of any high school — especially a private Catholic high school like St. Genevieve that must rely on former students, parents and foundations for most of its support.
Since 1959, more than 4,000 Valiants have gone out into the world — armed not only with knowledge, but a moral compass based on the Christian principles of social justice, love of neighbor and community service. One of SGHS’s biggest tasks was improving, on every level, what the school had to offer its students.
During the last decade, St. Genevieve High School has experienced nothing less than a renaissance — remolded labs, renovated classrooms, brighter buildings. More importantly there’s a new spirit that lives in our hallways, breaths in our classrooms, and competes on our athletic playing fields. A new character if you will, that embodies the faculty, staff and students.
Also a great importance is that for the first time in our history we are forging a partnership with our alumni. Beginning in 1999 we began our search for names and addresses. By 2001 we mailed the first edition of The Valiant Spirit, our alumni newsletter. We are still hoping to connect with as many Valiants as we can. If you know of someone who graduated from our school or if you would like to be added to our mailing list please contact the person listed below or for information on rediscovering St. Genevieve High School.
