About Student Council

All students are members of the Associated Student Body. The Student Council has been organized to establish democratic procedures governing student activities and to develop a sense of responsibility, self discipline, leadership, cooperation, scholarship, school spirit and Christian virtues. The Associated Student Body government attempts to make the student more involved ingovernment affairs in conjunction with the administration and faculty. Its aim is to promote harmonious relationships throughout the school by means of organized activities and projects.

All candidates must receive the approval of the administration and meet the academic and disciplinary requirements. ASB and class officers are expected to serve as the example for other students in following school policies and procedures and may be removed from office if issues following school policies and procedures occur.

The ASB organization is responsible for promoting all of the activity programs of the school and for coordinating all events and projects that are classified as extra curricular.

The goals of student government are to include:

Developing the students' understanding of the philosophy, goals and objectives of the high school;
Encouraging the students to become active members of the high school community which offers various opportunities of personal interaction with peers, staff and parents;
Assisting students in developing leadership and organizational skills in planning and sponsoring events and activities.

ASB Moderators

Name: Alexandra Cartaya

Alexandra is currently serving her 2nd year at St. Genevieve teaching in the Math and Religion Department.

Alexandra graduated from the University of Miami and went on to receive a Master of Education from Grand Canyon University.

Her favorite vacation spot is with her family in Miami, FL.

The advise she would like to give her students is:

“you never know what you are capable of doing unless you try, so try your best at everything!”

Name: Allison Castro

Allison Castro teaches 9th grade English. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Whittier College and her Master’s degree in Teaching from USC. This is Allison’s first year at St. Genevieve but it is her 2nd year teaching 9th graders. She has attended private schools her entire life and is proud to call St. Genevieve her new home.

Allison is also the ASB moderator along with Mrs. Cartaya.
