Wise Words

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

A True Valiant

Although Barbara Archey did not attend St. Genevieve High School I think it is safe to say that she was a Valiant. This past Sunday, July 18, 2010, Barbara Archey lost her fifteen-month battle with cancer.

Those that knew Mrs. Archey can attest to her kind spirit and generosity. Touching the lives of many over the years here with us on earth, I do not hesitate to think that the differences she has made have led her to an eternity of peace.

On behalf of the Girls Dance Team, our thoughts and prayers are with the Archey family and all those who mourn the loss of Barbara Archey…a true Valiant.

A Clean Sweep

The Girl’s Dance Team attended UDA dance camp this past weekend at UCLA. Once again, the team proved to be the best in attendance by being awarded all awards offered at UDA camp!

The team was a crowd favorite among participants, coaches, instructors and guests. They were constantly praised for their ability as well as their maturity and leadership.

I’d like to congratulate the ladies on a job well done!

The following is a breakdown of all team and individual awards received:

Individual Awards:

UDA All American: Nicole Yabut and Katherine Manuel qualified for UDA All Americans and have been invited to perform in the New Year’s Day Parade in Rome, Italy!

Drill Down Winner: Nicole Santos was the only dancer left standing at the final Drill Down on the last day of camp. Nicole Yabut took second place and Justine Hong took third, meaning St. Genevieve took the top three spots out of all dancers at camp!

Leadership Pin: Johanna DeGuzman was awarded a Leadership Pin on the second day of camp because she was “caught” helping dancers from other schools that were struggling to learn choreography!
